Boosting Innovation and Creativity
How to boost up your creativity with mind connections?
Just what are ‘mind connections’, you may ask? Simply put, these are thought patterns in our mind that comes about by putting one and two together using logical thought patterns. Right inside our brain, there resides in the nerve cells pockets of thoughts and ideas, each seemingly unrelated to each other, but often, being put and connected to form new ideas. In most normal circumstances, the pocket of thoughts are arranged and linked in sequences like the alphabets. That was the way we were taught from young. It is also called logical thinking pattern. And it is also arranged to read from ‘a’ to ‘z’ and not the other way around.
We exercise these thought patterns day in and day out, until we are so used to the thinking pattern that it becomes automatic. And it gets ingrained in our mind when we successfully used it to solve problems in our daily lives. Besides the logics that we learn, there are also sequences of thoughts that are inherited from our forbearers. These are gene based. So you have a situation of every educated mind thinking in almost similar fashions, but with some straying from the norm. These ‘abnormal’ thinkers are the ones we would like to term as thinking out of the box. They are also more creative as compared to the majority conformist, and on many occasions, contrarian.
Now, if we want to be in this creative category of thinkers, we should do well to study how creative people think. As we can’t observe directly how the mind of creative people works in their creative moment, we would have to ask them questions about the reason why they came up with their thinking. Often, they don’t know either. But as more and more creative people probe their minds, there is a consensus coming out that creative people does look at thing from a different angle. They do see things that the majority of us don’t see. Of course they don’t realize it until they have come up with a creation and getting people to ask in awl why they had not thought of it themselves.
Simply put, the creative mind works differently! And if we want to have more creativity in our society, then we should try to learn how their mind works. But you might ask how is it possible when the matters that made up our mind is of similar materials? Yes, they are similar, but the wiring is different! The thought patterns are different. Looking at it more closely, it becomes clear that the ‘mind connection’ is of a different pattern. They tend to always ask why they can’t do it their way. Normal people would say no because they have been thought the ‘right’ way. There lies the misses. We normally can’t see the forest for the trees. The creative mind just don’t think in a supposedly logical thinking pattern, and they will just pluck from somewhere an unrelated item and put together one plus one is equal to three. If you were to ask them how it is possible, they will retort ‘why not’!
Yes, the operative word here is ‘why not’! And mind you, creative people just don’t care whether their ‘piece of art’ is acceptable to you or not, nor do they care what you call them. They just do it. Given time, most ideas will be accepted, either partially or in total. These are the mind patterns of the creative mind. They make ‘mind connections’ that are different from the norm, and they are extremely proud of it. But some people would want to label creative people as talented, just so that they themselves don’t look so lucky as to not have inherited the trait from their forbearers. Maybe it is talent, but we should at least try to think creatively, after knowing that it is just as simple as thinking differently from the majority. It is indeed that simple, just try it.
The future as defined by Honda
Eversince the introduction of Segway personal transporters in the United States, there has been a renewed interest in coming up with new mobility devices. Segways are revolutionary, but a bit too costly for the average Joe. Here is another revolutionary design by Honda. Watch the video and put on your thinking cap. You might come up with another bright idea!
