Ideas for you to spark more ideas.....

Greening our roadways.

We have been building roadways for decades and as long as anyone can remember, all those roads were built for only one purpose that is they are made for humans to get from one place to another. But there is more. A new Idaho-based company, Solar Roadways, is proposing to build roadways with embedded solar panels. The idea is to tap on green energy, especially solar energy that beats unto the road and to channel it for useful purposes like lighting road signs, or connecting it to the energy grids, or even running telecommunication lines and many other uses that people have not even thought of yet.

This road leads to more opportunities....

Solar Roadways just got a $100,000.00 grant from the US Department of Transportation to continue further research on the idea. There are many challenges to overcome tough, the main one being getting a covering panel that is transparent and yet able to perform the duties of a road surface. Put a thought to it, for you might be able to think of new ideas about this thing…………and someone is already toying with embedding it with piezoelectric generators and even automaticaly stearing and recharging electric vehicles!

We were all wrong: this is what the future car looks like

With more and more vehicles being bought, and lesser roadways made available, we will soon face the problem of gridlocks, and not to mention about excessive emissions yet. Just what are planers coming up with then? They don’t have an answer yet. But luckily, someone in the auto industry is prototyping a new breed of vehicle to try to solve some of the sticky problems. Nissan of Japan has designed a vehicle called “Land Glide”. Well, first of all it does tilt its body like a motorcycle. It is also half the width of the normal car and it is run on battery power. It is a two seater, one in front and the other at the back and is sheltered from the elements. However, driving it might not be the same with a car as it operates on drive-by-wire method, just like those new aircraft and it could come to your nearest showroom sooner than you expect. Watch the video here then and see what the future bodes.
